11.19.2002

Obligatory Nude Scene (6-5 #4) vs. Spankingly Delicious (4-7 #8)
It was an important game for Nude Scene's conference title hopes, while for Spanking, it was basically do or die.  It was a good game with a lot of points scored, but in the end, Derrick's studs came through as 3 players got to the 20 points mark.  Ben didn't get one.  Derrick won the game 114-92, and in doing so, Derrick was the heighest scoring team during the week.

The Horny Priests (6-5 #2) vs. Silent But Deadly (8-3 #3)
It was the non-conference battle this week, or if you prefer, the battle of the Jasons.  It was a close game and this time, like always, the west took it as the Priests fall to Silent But Deadly 81-76.  With Jason loosing, it produces, yet again, a logjam at the top of the east.

The Showstoppa's (5-6 #6) vs. Polymorphic Pacifists (9-2 #1)
Kinda forgot about Scott as he struggled through a 2 game loosing streak.  In a game that was full of longshot playoff ramifications, Scott held the status quo and toppled the little guy 93-72.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2-9 #10) vs. The Mossters (6-5 #5)
Todd had all but destroyed his team after making 3 major trades prior to the deadline.  Dispite that though, he has won 3 in a row, this time adding to that streak by kicking Neil to the curb 87-72.  Todd needed this game to stay in the hunt for the conference championship.  The Aqua Teens, well, they might get to fight for the top pick in next summer's rookie draft.

The Flying Monkees (5-6 #7) vs. I Try When I Want To (4-7 #9)
In the only game not to go final last week, Heather got the best of Brian 64-49 in the battle of the Rams receivers.Brian has, thus far, had the best schedule by allowing a league low 851 points.  Yet he has managed only a 4-7 record.

Playoff picture in the east:

The top 3 teams are dead locked at 6-5; the Mossters, The Horny Priests, and Obligatory Nude Scene.  Spankingly Delicious is holding on, while The Aqua Teens are eliminated from the cash bracket.

The Priests hold the tie breaker on Nude Scene which means Nude Scene must finish a game up on them in order to take the conference.  The Priests do NOT have the tie break on The Mossters as they have lost to them earlier this season and are face eachother in the final week of the regular season.  The clinch a berth in the cash bracket with a win next week, or a loss by Spankingly Delicious.

Nude Scene has clinched a berth in the cash bracket with their defeat of Spankingly Delicious.  However, to take the conference they are forced to finish a game over the Priests.  They hold the tie break on The Mossters but are yet to play them for the final time.

The Mossters will clinch a breth in the cash bracket with a win or a Spankingly Delicious loss next week.  They hold thier destiny in thier hands as they finish the season with games against both, the Priests and Obligatory Nude Scene.

Spankingly Delicious has let it all slip away.  They do NOT have the tie break on Nude Scene, and split with The Mossters and the Priests.  To make the cash bracket, they need to win the remaining 2 games, and then have the Priests loose both games and then out score them by 105, or have The Mossters loose both games and then out score them by 160.  With the loss the Nude Scene, they have been eliminated from the conference title.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force can still get a bye in the consolation round by winning out, having Spankingly loose both games, and not get out scored by more than 5 points in the process.

The west:

The Pacifists basically need to win just one more game, or have Silent loose one game in order to clinch the conference title.  They clinched a cash bracket spot long ago.

Silent But Deadly has clinched a spot in the cash bracket.  They are one game back in the conference title hunt with two to play.  The series is tied at 1 game a peice, but the Pacifists hold a 172 points cushion in total points scored.  Silent would have to make that up in order to take the conference in a tie.

The Showstoppa's hold the tie break on the Monkees for the final cash bracket spot.

The Flying Monkees need to finish one game ahead of the Showstopp'a in order to take the final cash bracket spot.

I Try When I Want To is in a tough spot.  They do NOT have the tie break over the Monkees OR the Showstoppa's.  This means, to get in the cash bracket, they need to win out, and have the Monkees loose all their remaining games, and have the Showstoppa's loose their remaing games, or the Showstoppa's need to loose the game left vs. I Try, win the other game they have, but still be out scored by I Try by 131 points.

11.12.2002

So this was supposed to be a week to help clear the playoff picture.  That didn't really happen.

Games we cared about:

The Horny Priests (6-4 #2) vs. Obligatory Nude Scene (5-5 #4)
It was the game dubbed "the most important game of the week".  It turned out to be a blow out.  Nude Scene didn't show up this week and scored a season low 41 points.  They were trounced 100-41.  The importance of the game comes in the form of tie breaker.  Jason now holds the tie breaker over Derrick.  Which means Derrick must finish a game ahead of Jason to won the Conference.

The Mossters (5-5 #5) vs. Spankingly Delicious (4-6 #9)
It was the game dubbed "the second most important game of the week".  It was the ONLY game all week that followed the norm.  The Mossters took the game 82-72.  You can only go so far when you don't score points, and Ben isn't scoring.  With the win, Todd ties the season series 1-1.

The game everyone overlooked.

The Showstoppa's (5-5 #6) vs. Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2-8 #10)
It was the battle of the Neil's, and the Showstoppa's won 83-66.  This time the Aqua Teens can blame the QB possition again.  In two weeks, the Teens have gotten a total of  5 points out the the QB's.  That will not get it done.  The Showstoppa's have been quietly lurking in the shadows of the west for a while now.  A quiet 5-5, and in position to make a jump for conference title.

The "what the..? are you sure..?" games.  I said in the beginning of the week that Scott and Jason would have an easy go of it this week.  Boy, did Brian and Heather not like that!

Silent But Deadly (7-3 #3) vs. I Try When I Want To (4-6 #8)
As mentioned above, I sorta indicated that Silent But Deadly may have an easy go of things this week as they took thier 2nd scoring offense up against the 2nd lowest scoring offense, and I Try When I Want To.  Who knew Tommy Maddox would put up 473 and 4?  I would call this the upset of the year under normal circumstances.. 115 points later Brain upset Jason and his 83 points.  This one will sting Jason for a while after he reads this next score...

Polymorphic Pacifists (8-2 #1) vs. The Flying Monkees (4-6 #7)
And we thought Jason loosing to Brain was bad.  What about Scott loosing to Heather, not just loosing, but loosing by 80 points!!  The Pacifists were dogged by injury en route to scoring a season low 70 points, which by the way isn't to shabby.  But then Heather's players played, and 150 points later, she had a resounding upset over the best team in the league.  The funny thing, the score could have been 169 if she had played Plaxico Burress.. he had 43 instead of Rice's 24.  Ugh.. Heather's scores (30, 27, 11, 37, 24, 0, 16, 5).  Wow.

The Playoff picture:

The East.

Jason holds his own destiny.  he holds a 1 game lead over Todd, Todd holds the tie break.  Has, essentially, a 2 game lead on Derrick as Jason has the tie breaker, and an actual 2 game lead on Ben.

The 2,3,4 spots are to close to call at this point.  Derrick and Todd are 5-5 and Ben is 4-6.  Derrick holds the tie break on both at this point.

Things don't look good for Neil as he is just about done in the cash bracket.  Neil is eliminated from 1st and 2nd place.  In order to get 3rd, he needs Derrick to win out in his remaining conference games, Ben to beat Todd in thier final meeting, then have Todd and Ben loose al thier remaining games, and the Aqua Teens need to win out, while scoring 140 points more than Todd.  If all that happens, Neil will be the 3 seed in the east... say what?

The West.

Scott also holds his own destiny.  He has clinched a spot in the cash bracket.  He holds a 1 game lead over Jason for the conference title.

Jason is just one game back for the conference.  And, last week, Jason tied the season series 1-1.  The bad news is that Scott's offense is so productive, that the next tie break, points scored, Scott leads by 160 points, which is as good as a tie breaker.  Jason needs to gain a game, and out score Scott by 161 to take the conference. One more win, and Jason clinches a spot in the cash bracket.

Neil has little hope for the conference.  He needs to win out, needs Scott to loose all his remaining games, Jason to loose 2 of his remaining games, and outscore Scott by 243 points, and Jason by 83 to take the conference.  The number 2 spot is in reach, Neil win out, Jason loose 2 of his remaining games and outscore by 83.

Brain and Heather are both 1 game back of the #3 spot.  The number 2 spot will be harder.  Not out of it mathematically, Heather needs Jason to loose his remaining games, Neil to beat Jason and Brain, then outscore Neil by 68 all while winning out.  Brian needs a picture similar to Heather, only he needs to out score Neil by 109.
