Blog: Life in Ellensburg

Updated: November 17, 2006 News: This website is due for a complete makeover, partly due to the fact that nobody reads this anymore, not even myself, who abandoned it months ago in exchange for depression and pain-killers. So since the only person I have a chance at bringing back to this website is myself, I'll write the following exclusively for my eyes. Stop what you do in the bathroom. You know exactly what I'm talking about you spineless cretan, reading 17 magazine is not something a 23-year-old male should still be doing. Now change the background, add some video clips, clean up some of the old links, delete that outdated quiz and poll, add those 2 new songs you've been working on, and update your pictures and your CD reviews. Good boy.

I was sitting at my computer contemplating the metaphysical presupositions that speculate whether a llama and a rabbit can be cross-bred, when I realized how full my computer was with useless junk. So logically I decided to share that junk with the rest of you. Within, you shall be subject to a plethora of incongruous artifacts, and if you would be so sanguine as to not condone my valuables, it would behoove my rational immensely. That was pure class.

Personal stats: My name is Bryant Phillips, I'm 23 years old, my birthday is February 9th, I am currently enrolled at Central Washington University as a Senior, I graduated from Juanita High School in Kirkland, WA, USA, I'm a professional photographer for Pictureman Inc., and am utterly addicted to a certain female named Angela Richardson.

Bi-weekly album review: Since my albums review list is rather extensive, I decided I'd post some of my favorite albums' reviews here every few weeks. Let me know what you think of my review:

Thievery Corporation: Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi * * * ½

As debut albums go, this one sounds like a band already well into their mastery of a sound. Yes the end of the album is so monotonous and low-fi you’re just begging for a bit of pep to appear, but the first half demonstrates Thievery Corporation’s talent for blending world sounds, hip hop, and soothing lounge music all into a deliciously suave soufflé. What I find interesting is the similarities between this album and their most recent album, The Cosmic Game, which feature songs like Shaolin Satellite off this album and Warning Shots off Cosmic Game that are both eerily alike, both having a strong influence from the Chemical Brothers and other such block-rockin’-beat sounds. You may find yourself losing interest and that your foot will stop tapping after The Foundation, but for the first half alone this is deserving of 3 and ½ stars and can be held up with the other impressive Thievery Corporation albums without shame. Debut done good. Great songs: 2001 Spliff Odissey, Shaolin Satellite (the Chemical Brothers song that never was; best on the album and one of my favorites by Thievery Corporation), Universal Highness, The Foundation. Not-so-great songs: So Vast as the Sky, Walking Through Bbylon.

Recommendations: If you liked this, try the Chemical Brothers (Best of), Air (Moon Safari), or Caia (The Magic Dragon).

Here are some rather funny quotes from Family Guy, you'll most likely never get the same selections twice with this randomizer.
