New Faces on the Faculty

New Faces on the Faculty

By Jake Knoll
There are many new teachers this year at the high school. Some of them are familiar. Pat Serra, junior, says, “It’s good to see new teachers at Quabbin because it has been very boring without new faces.” The increase in teachers is due to a boost in the freshmen class. The incoming freshman class of 316 is 52% larger than last year’s graduating senior class of 154. The math department expanded the most in response to this change, because the 9th grade will now be having math as a full term course. This is made possible by dropping one elective for them to choose. Quabbin has 12 new teachers including two transfers from the middle school. There are four new math teachers: Mrs. Maureen Chase, Mrs. Martha Degnan, Mrs. Sharon Beauregard, and Mr. Peter Roy-Clark, transferring from middle school. The two new English teachers are Mr. John Monfredo, and Ms. Carrie Vasseur, a transfer from middle school. The science department has two new teachers, Mr. Paul Sesitio and Mr. T.J. Schubert. The history department has one more addition, Mr. Evan Barringer, and the Business department has added one teacher, Mr. Ed Goodwin. Mr. Richard Zalneritis was a part-time teacher and now works as a full-time teacher in computer related courses.

Mr. Goodwin said that Quabbin has a “Nice facility, the staff is professional and the student body is growing.” The school is expanding not only with students but with teachers. This just makes us wonder if we will see even more new faces next year due to the projected growth
