Tony and Jerry's Snake Page

Hello, my name is Tony Evans and I hunt snakes. Me and my cousin Jerry love to do this. Alot of people, and I mean alot...call us crazy for doing this. Really, we are just interested in them. They're really not as mean and ruthless as most people think, and unless harassed, will seldom even strike. Most snake bites occur when people see a snake and poke at it with a stick or throw a rock at it. Snakes are very benificial to our environment and you should only kill one if it is THE LAST RESORT!!! The most common venemous snake in Kentucky is the Northern Copperhead. This snake is easy to confuse with some other common snakes in Kentucky like the Northern Water Snake. Unlike popular belief makes you think, Copperheads do like the water, so if you see a snake that looks like a Copperhead in the water, stay away from it. Another popular myth that seems to get around in Eastern Kentucky is that Black Rat Snakes and Black Racers will interbreed with Timber Rattlesnakes and the Northern Copperhead and the offspring are poison. People believe this because these snakes vibrate their tails when threatened, and because juvenile Rat Snakes and Racers are patterned instead of solid in color. Breeding between these species is NOT AT ALL POSSIBLE...so dont kill them. We are still working on this site, but here is one story that I hope you will enjoy. All stories are true...lol. We do not encourage catching snakes...we do however, encourage not killing them. Please, e-mail me with your comments and snake questions...thanks you.
