State Of Mind

by Shelby

He can hear the silent,
In a crowded room.
He smells the jasmine,
The scent of her favorite perfume.

She remembers his laughter,
Pictures his tender smile.
She reaches for the phone,
But her pride won't let her dial.

He will go home alone,
To a house dark and cold.
Once again her memory,
Starts to take hold.

She lies in the dark,
Feeling lost without him.
Reliving their past,
What should of been.

One careless word,
That lead to good bye.
Now both remain miserable,
But both to stubborn to try.

Both had taken love for granted,
Neither one meant to be unkind.
Now both alone and heartbroken,
Dwelling in a limbo state of mind.
