In the smokey shadows of early dawn,
As the morning dew covers the ground.
A feeling of peace dwells within my heart,
For a few precious moments no hurt is found.
Thoughts about what lies ahead for the day,
I light a cigarette and pour coffee for one.
So many old memories start to flood my mind,
Out the kitchen window I can see the rising sun.
Even if my life hasn't turn out that bad,
Life is not gonna change like I dream it will.
A love filled home with overflowing laughter,
There's to much anger, and too many bills.
Morning is silently slipping away from me,
I should load the washer and makes the beds.
A long list of chores that need to be done,
I pour a second cup and day dream instead.
