Springfield College Men's Cross Country

The 2004 Springfield College Men's Cross Country team is looking to have a break through year after a few rebuilding years. With the help of the still-developing Tetsuji Kamabara (Osaka, Japan) leading the way the team should make a statement at Regionals and set the tone for 2005 where Nationals is the top priority. The team has been very young and up and coming in Coach Mike Gauvin's first 2 seasons but is now looking to use experience to its advantage. SC is returning its top 5 and 9 of its top 11. The leading candidates for varsity spots are Sophmores Tetsuji Kambara, Pat Hepper, Pat Gann, Jon Freeman, Ryan Palmison and Nate McMahan. Juniors Chris Hamel, Scott Barton and Patrick Byrne. Seniors Steve Wilson and Patrick DeRocco will also be competeting for Varsity spots. The incoming freshman class of 2008 will have an impact after a few developing years. Of the returning team there are 12 runners who have had varsity experience. Injuries slowed the team down in track a bit but all looks to be well heading into the fall. The 2004 campaign is led by Senior Captain Steve Wilson and Junior Captain Scott Barton. The 2004 team has the potential to be one of the better teams to run at Springfield for several years, as long as the work is done, the talent will show. LET'S ROCK!!
