Overview
The IT recruitment
company Spring wanted to migrate all of their Lotus Notes databases
and merge their numerous departmental intranets into one singular
extranet. The launch of this extranet was to be in conjunction with
the move to their new offices in Londons Oxford Street. We
proposed a concept of Cafe Spring. This was the idea
that different people have different needs, much the same as people
having different coffee tastes. Thus the different areas of the
extranet reflected a specific style of coffee:
Espresso - up to date hard hitting facts only i.e. headline
industry news stories
Cappucino - more engaging information that you would mull
over i.e. company information
Latte - milky information i.e. company policies and proceedures,
HR information
Percolator - training zone i.e. online learning centre
Introducing this coffee culture was a long process. Initially we
had to educate and then build anticipation from the Spring staff
about the new extranet and the coffee concept. This was done by
sending each employee an email from the CEO outlining the new iniative
and providing a link through to a holding microsite with a countdown
clock of days to go till full launch on it. On the day of moving
into the new offices the extranet was launched with all of the information
contained. This extranet was designed to be an evolutionary site
which could expand depending on the needs of Spring.
My Involvement
I was involved
in this project from the initial pitch proccess, through the initial
design and technical layout of the extranet, project mangaging the
design interface & flash mail pieces, co-ordinating the CEO
email to staff and monitoring the costs and budgets with the client.
