Truth in Action throughout Revelation

How the life of the Spirit enlivens works of faith in the believer!

TRUTH that Revelation teaches ACTION that Revelation invites
3:17
Don't place value on the successes of the world. Don't trust in the riches of this world. Repent each time that occurs. Remember that the goods of this world have no value in heaven!

3:18
Return to the system of spiritual values each time you leave it.

13:16
Don't adopt the world's way of thinking or its standards of conduct.

2. Key lessons in faith
Faith rests in the knowledge of GOD; in the trust we place in Him to understand and be given wisdom in the face of persecution. The decision to overcome in the faith, based on the blood shed by Christ, doesn't even fear death.
1:3
Trust in GOD to give you wisdom when you read Revelation.

2:10,11
Be faithful to Jesus when you face persecution and death.

2:13
Never renounce faith in Jesus.

13:10; 14:12
Understand that the LORD calls his people to persevere faithfully and patiently. Never give up!

3. Steps toward a dynamic devotion
Jesus demands absolute devotion and rejects indecisive and lukewarm followers. Zeal for the LORD isn't optional for his disciples. Devotion submits voluntarily to the discipline of Jesus, because it recognizes that it is an expression of his love.
2:4
Give your love for Jesus the highest priority in your life. Consecrate yourself emotionally and intellectually to Christ.

3:15
Avoid halfheartedness in faith; raise your zeal for the LORD.

3:19
Repent quickly each time that the Spirit convicts you of sin.

4. Keys for a wise life
The wise believer patiently hears with his spiritual ears what the Spirit says to the Church. This is as much necessary today as it was in the first century. Anyone who hears and follows the voice of the Spirit doesn't need to fear the deception that leads to apostasy. On the contrary, he will go where Christ leads him and will grow in the things of the Spirit of GOD, which raises churches which are healthy, vibrant and filled with the Spirit, able to preach Jesus to all the world.
2:7,11
Develop your spiritual ear.

17:29; 3:6,13,22
Hear what the LORD says to the Church. When you must decide, obey GOD, not men!

2:9,10
Understand that you can be spiritually rich and poor in the eyes of the world. Be faithful and receive the crown of life.

5. Keys for moral purity
The Church is represented as the wife of Christ; which links apostasy with sexual impurity. It's required that Christians be faithful to Christ, sexually pure, and that they don't worship some carnal idol.
2:14,20
Reject any teaching or practice that justifies sexual immorality between believers.

14:4,5
Maintain sexual purity. Practice absolute obedience to Jesus. Live a life without blemish.

6. Steps toward humility
The Christian must constantly strengthen the things that GOD has sown in his heart. Being prepared to repent of any sin, to mend any error, will help the believer to walk more securely in the way of the Spirit. Good works don't always indicate the true condition of the heart, but a good heart produces good works.
3:1-5
Don't be conformed to a good reputation. Stay as close as possible to Jesus. Be sure to practice the teachings that you have received. Obey GOD's desire for you.
7. Instructions for obtaining the victory
Spiritual victory is something that we receive. Jesus Christ has already gained the victory through his death, burial and resurrection.
12:11
Wage spiritual battle on the basis of the blood shed by Christ, and declare that He died for your sins and was raised for your justification. Love Jesus more than your own life.
