TRUTH That Galatians Teaches |
ACTION That Galatians Invites |
1. Instructions for growing in faith
Piety is the result of the action of Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit, in the life of the believer. It can't be attained by observing some formal code. Any attempt to achieve rectitude abiding by a list of prohibitions and authorizations is unfruitful! GOD calls us to love others and serve them as Christ did, by the power of the same Holy Spirit and in the same liberty. |
3:26-29
Think as if you might be completely identified with the life of Jesus Christ. Allow Christ to live freely in you.
4:19,20
Concentrate on the Word of GOD being embodied in you. Consider that you are being edified to the end of being like Christ.
5:1-3
Walk in the liberty that Christ bought for you. Don't submit your soul to legalistic regimentations, irrespective of how advisable they may appear.
5:4-6
Enjoy GOD's grace. Don't try to earn that which can only be received as a gift. Love everyone without reserve.
6:7-9
Remember that the "law of the sower and the harvest" applies to all the world. Sow only what you want to reap. GOD guarantees that the harvest will come.
6:10
Do good to others when you have the opportunity. Show special interest to your brothers and sisters in Christ. |
2. Key lessons in the faith
Faaith accepts GOD's testimony confidently, like a child, and salvation as a free gift. Faith was given to lead us to Christ; but any use of the Law as a means to gain salvation is a distortion of the truth. By nature, mankind presumes to seek salvation through works. It offends us to believe that we can't. But the Word of GOD says that it's an offense to the LORD to believe that we can. |
1:6-9
Don't make any changes, amendments, distortions, or additions to the gospel. Know that those who do this await a hard punishment.
2:16
Understand that you die with Christ so that Christ lives in you.
2:19-21
Understand that it's impossible to maintain your relationship with GOD by means of works instead of faith.
3:1-11
Understand that GOD's intention with the Law is to bring his people to Christ.
6:9
Continue walking in faith without ceasing. Remember and believe in the certainty of the victory of those who persevere until the end. |
3. Instructions for growing in the Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the key to living under GOD's grace. Only the Holy Spirit who dwells within us can fulfill the Law through us, by infusing us with the life of Christ and truly freeing us from the Law. |
3:14
Understand that you received "the promise of the Spirit" (Acts 2:38,39) just as you received salvation through Christ.
5:16-26
Live under the dominion of the Holy Spirit. Obey each time the Holy Spirit leads you. Know that your will defeats all carnal inclinations that assault you. Believe that this will gives birth to the life of Jesus that is manifested in you. |
4. Ways to confront sin
We mustn't allow our liberty from the Law to become an occasion to fail in the sins of the flesh. We are also responsible for each other and have to stay vigilant for others as well as for ourselves. |
5:13
Free yourself from the influence of sin. Don't use the liberty that Christ has given you to sin against your brother in the LORD. Remember that the fruit of liberty should be loving service to others.
6:1,2
Don't allow others to remain captive to sin. Be ready to do what is necessary to restore the brother who has fallen into sin. Behave kindly , without arrogance, knowing that you also can be tempted. |
5. A step toward developing humility
If we believe we are too spiritually mature to fall into sin, we must watch out! The Bible presents the sins of the early spiritual leaders as a warning that reminds us to remain humble and ready to be corrected. Each one needs to sincerely reaffirm himself in his walk with GOD in His presence. Each one of us will have to answer for his actions and attitudes. |
6:3-5
Be sober in the way that you comport yourself. Use only the life and teachings of Jesus as the standard for your judgment, not the behavior of others. |
