Kilmartin Glen, Oban, Mull, and Iona

Looking down at the group from Dunnad hill fort, where Fergus, arriving from Ireland c. 500 A.D. founded the kingdom of Dalriada.  Here, kings of the Scots were crowned until Scots and Picts united under Kenneth MacAlpin in 843.  The 176-ft. high rocky knoll was once surrounded by water.

Three adventurers head for the beach on Iona where Vikings once landed.  At Iona, St. Columba arrived from Ireland to establish a monastery in 563.  Scottish royalty, including MacBeth, were buried near the Iona Abbey.
