Day Trips

The students may use the extensive train system of Scotland to travel all over the country, both in class and on individual trips on the weekends.

The class goes to Stirling for a day using the trains. Here they are in front of the Stirling Castle. In the background is a monument to William Wallace, who defeated the English army at the Stirling Bridge. Also visible from Stirling Castle is Bannockburn, where Robert the Bruce, outnumbered 3 to 1, changed the course of Scottish history by defeating the English army in 1314.

The class gathers with others in the courtyard of Stirling Castle, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Both she and her son, James VI, were crowned here.  Pictured is Mr. Brian Gibson, arguably the World's Greatest Tour Guide.
