This webquest is designed to guide students in a focused study of a few of the primary writers of the Harlem Renaissance. The webquest may be used as part of the lesson plan Exploring the Harlem Renaissance Through the American Memory Collection. To help students complete the assignment successfully, it may be helpful to review the following skills:
persuasive writing: The
requirement in the webquest is a classical argument, but you could change the
style of persuasive writing to suit your curriculum needs
presentation skills: Review
use of note-cards, the importance of eye-contact and posture, the
effective use of visual and auditory aids.
listening skills: It may be helpful to have the other students in the class take notes on the presentations or keep a checklist for each Renaissance figure to aid in their listening skills.
