At the end of the season hopes for a return to glory looked dim for the Colorado Avalanche when Patrick Roy announced his retirement. The Avalanche management knew that it would need to make big signing in this year’s free agent market and that they did with the signing of Paul Kariya, and Teemu Selanne, and the re-signing MVP Peter Forsberg. With the reuniting of this Goal scoring team makes you think the focus of this Aves organization has change from a defensive minded team to a team that has a high-octane offense. The changing of focus may have a lot to do with Roy’s retirement or because they may lose some of there veteran defensemen to free agency.  What ever the reason may be for changing the mindset the Aves have made it clear that they are going to have a strong offense next season and that they will be contenders for the cup.
