This years free agent market
has the potential to change the face of the NHL. First, let's start with
the signings that already happened. One major signing is the Aves acquiring
Kariya and Selanne. This will hurt Stanley cup finalist Ducks with the loss
of there top offensive producer and will add two powerful weapons to the
Aves offense. Also, the wings pick up of Hatcher and re-signed Jason Woolley.
The wings pick up will hurt the Stars defense and will add a physical presence
to Detroit's Strong Defensive core. Staying on the Wings they re-signed young
prospect Pavel Datsyuk. He is a good passer who is constantly improving his
play and may in a few years be to MVP play quality. Ok now let's see what
could change now with this Free Agent Market. One player everyone is watching
is Sergei Fedorov. He is a player that always has an impact on the games
he plays in. If Fedorov signs with someone besides the Wings as he says they
will be out a center and will need to sign or trade for one. Also another
player that probably has one good season left is Luc Robitaille. If a team
signs him for a team signs him for a one or two year deal he will probably
put up good numbers. A player that may cause the Ducks more problems is Jean-Sebastien
Giguere if he signs with another team they will be out a player that you
can say he was solely responsible for there trip to the Cup Finals. For a
team that is looking for a strong offensive gun Alex Kovalev may be the player
to change that team from not making the playoffs to Cup contenders. A player
that the Aves may want to look into is Felix Potvin he is an experienced
goalie who with David Aebischer will improve there hopes to get to the Cup.
Another free agent that is good and that teams should look into is Marian
Gaborik. He is a strong offensive player that can spice the offense of any
team. This years free agent market will have a big impact on the face of
the NHL.
