The NHL has once again fallen on tough economic times. Last season NHL teams lost roughly 300 million dollars. This number is up from the year before losses of 218 million dollars. Many problems are turning up for the NHL because of increased salaries and many believe that a salary cap is necessary. 76 percent of the league's 1.93 billion dollars of revenue was used for salaries.
This is what the NHL's chief legal officer Bill Daly said about this situation to The Wall Street Journal, "This is a level at which no business can survive The league will lose teams and players will lose jobs if we can't fix this."
