Greetings! I welcome you to the College of The Albemarle’s Basic Skills Education program. I appreciate your interest in COA’s Adult Education initiative. The Basic Skills program at COA is designed to provide instructional services to assist students in strengthening their academic skills and completing their high school education. This goal can be accomplished by one of two programs of study offered through the Basic Skills program. A student may select the GED program or the Adult High School program of studies. Completion of either program will be beneficial to any individual desiring to continue their education at COA or in some other post secondary educational setting. The Basic Skills Education program also provides adult instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL) and Compensatory and Literacy education.
The Basic Skills Education program is staffed with some of the most dedicated, well trained, professional instructional staff and assistants in Northeastern North Carolina.
The Basic Skills instructional staff is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date adult high school programs, compensatory education and ESL programs available and welcomes potential students to come and visit their classrooms and learning environments. I am sure you will find an instructional offering that will fit with your learning goals and your personal schedule. Our programs are offered at various sites throughout COA’s seven-county service delivery area so I am sure that you will find an offering in your home community that will help you strengthen your academic skills and be prepared for further instruction or employment.
