Carl Barnwell Jr. was born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 11, 1983 to the proud parents of Wylene and Carl Barnwell Sr. Carl Jr. was raised and baptized in St. Anthony Baptist Church in Brooklyn and attended Public School 193. In 1994 his father retired and relocated to Beaufort, South Carolina, where he started his middle school experience at Lady's Island Middle School.

In 1997 Carl attending Beaufort High School, and joined Faith Memorial Baptist Church on St. Helena Island, South Carolina. While at Beaufort High School, Carl was very active with many organizations ranging from The Eagle Pride Marching Band, to The International Thespian Society and Student Government. In 2001 Carl graduated from Beaufort High and went on to Charleston, South Carolina to further his education at the College of Charleston.

Among his many accomplishments, he has received the Best Supporting Actor award from South Carolina International Thespian Society. He has acted in several plays from Little Shop of Horrors where he stared as the man eating plant Audrey II, to Our Country's Good where he played several characters. He has acted in school and community performances in Beaufort and Charleston, South Carolina, notably at the historic Footlight Players.

 

Carl's talents are not only on stage, but backstage as well. From Lighting and Sound Design to Set Design and construction, Carl takes his talents to what ever production aspect is needed. His most recent technical works include set design for the Beaufort High School Production of Noises Off, and Front-of-House Sound Engineer for the National Tour of the JENA Company's show Black Broadway.

 

His theatrical talents are many, and his beliefs are simple. "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper." - Isaiah 54:17 & "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." - Philippians 4:13
