Born in Abbeville County, January 7, 1885, he was a son of the late Jacob and Lona Bowie. As a young man he came to Greenville and had since
resided here; having been at the Southern Worsted Mill for a number of years. At the present time he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. W. R. Fox at Piedmont Park.
In addition to his daughter Mrs. W. R. Fox, he is survived by two sons, Paul E. Bowie, Jr. of Greensboro, NC and Douglas Bowie of Atlanta, GA.,
three sisters, Mrs. Maude McKinney of Columbia, Mrs. Pearl Morgan of Greenville, and Mrs. Carrie Kay of Pelzer, on brother, Ben Bowie of Greenville and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held at Mountain Creek Baptist Church Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. J. A. Cave will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Six nephews of Mr. Bowie will serve as pallbearers as follows: Claude Kay, Edward Kay, James Kay, Roy Kay, Jake Kay, and Will Lewis Morgan.
He was a Mason, a member of Brandon Council No. 58, Junior Order of United American Mechanics.

According to family researcher Edith Dooley, she and her husband, Claude, married in 1927 and that George and Grace married right after. Edith also said George and Grace met because they lived close to each other - he on Sayre and she on South Main...about 3 blocks away. I later found the marriage license of George and Grace. The marriage date was January 14, 1928. Their ages were George 22 and Grace 21.

Mrs. McClellan was born in Anderson Jan. 15, 1909, and spent her entire life in this city. 8he was a daughter of the late J. Harvey and Eugenia Ellison Hancock, also lifelong residents of this section, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Anderson.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Joe Billy McClellan of Anderson, and Donald McClellan of the home; three brothers, Lester, Haskell and Claude Hancock, also of this city.

OBITUARY NOTICE
Officers who investigated the case expressed the official opinion that death was the result of suicide. An inquest will not be held, it was indicated.
The fatal shot was fired at the rear of the Maxwell Bros. and McCallam Furniture Company where he has been employed for a number of years. Friends said that he had talked with them in the store a few minutes before he walked out the rear door, seated himself in a chair and then sent a pistol bullet through his head. He used his own gun, it was said.
Associates said that he had been worried and despondent over personal affairs for several days, but they were greatly shocked upon learning that he had taken his own life.
Mr. Smith, who was well known throughout this section, was born and reared in the Hopewell community. He was the son of Ed M. Smith and Fannie McClellan Smith.
He was a member of the Knights of Phythia and of the First Baptist church. Surviving him are his e wife, Mrs. Jessie Dean Smith, his father, Ed Smith, one son, Dean Smith and one daughter, Miss Allie Smith, all of Anderson; one brother Paul Smith, of Anderson; and five sisters, Mrs. Perry Smith, of Townville; Mrs. John R. Snelgrove, Mrs. Lucius Browning and Mrs. Luther Dickerson, and Miss Alma Smith, all of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock with Rev. E. C. White, pastor of Oakwood Baptist Church, assisted by Dr. Joe H. Carter, pastor of Central Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Silver Brook cemetery, with MeDougald-Johnston funeral directors in charge.
