Lowcountry VW Club in the News

Jim Lantry

www.angelfire.com/sc2/vw

Last month’s article about VW’s and the Lowcountry VW Club in the Post and Courier was a big success. It was my hope that Bob Lang would highlight the end of production of the worlds most popular automobile. He did that and more, interviewing club members and giving us some free publicity. The article and the photos were well done. Thus far it has generated about 10 calls concerning the club, and we hope 10 new and enthusiastic club members! We’d like to welcome all new club members, and hope to see all of you at the next meeting. Of particular interest was the good looking guy pictured in the article. If word gets out that we all have the Casanova good looks of Harlan, we’re sure to attract a new groupie following!

April Meeting

We have a few things to address at the upcoming April meeting. On the event calendar is the Riverdogs game on the evening of April 20th, and the Coastal Georgia VW show on Saturday April 28th. Mark your calendars. In addition, we need to plan a work day, so if you have a project in mind, bring your ideas to the meeting. As of this writing, my bug sits idle in my garage with a dead engine. A work day dedicated to removing and installing a VW engine may be on the horizon! Also, now that it’s staying light longer, I will again have the digital camera. Bring your cars! A brief description would be helpful also, listing the basic specifications and any additions of special info on your car.

Parts For Sale

Ron Bain from Ridgeville. Ron has a mix of parts from old VW’s, mostly 1960’s models, that he’s trying to clear out. He can be contacted at 875-3823. Tater and Joyce have a bra for an early 1960’s bug. If interested, please see them at the next meeting. Another gentleman called me this week regarding NOS parts his father has in a shed. The parts are from a 1970’s model bug, and the gentleman promised me a detailed list for the next newsletter. I’ll keep you posted.
