BIOGRAPHY

SCARAB is:

CONSUMER: vocals

BASTARD CHILD: drums

GRAVE ROBBER: guitars

SCARAB was formed in early March, 1999, from the dismembered remnants of the band Entrails (a revered, influential local death metal band), in which the Bastard Child was the vocalist and the Grave Robber handled the guitars. Wishing to continue on in an even heavier band, the two recruited long-time friend and beast the Consumer to sing, leaving the Bastard Child on drums and the Grave Robber on guitar. Scarab is still currently seeking a full-time bass player who is as serious about metal as the band is.

SCARAB is from Maryville, Tennessee, where there is little or no support for death metal. However, the band feels that they can make a significant contribution to today's death metal scene. "Torimbe mauoich mossy sarves," grunts the Consumer, and the rest of the band seems to agree. "We have a style that is different from everyone else's. It's a mixture of different death metal styles that we think people are going to leech on to," adds the Grave Robber. "We are going to kick your fucking ass! Fuck you, and fuck your college rock bullshit!" shouts the Bastard Child, and this attitude seems to be typical of the whole band.

WHEN asked about their influences, a long list of band names is quickly rolled off: Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, Cradle of Filth, Deicide, Morgion, Opeth, Slayer, Morbid Angel, and Gorguts are but a few. The Consumer is quick to add that he would not be singing if it weren't for Cannibal Corpse. Components from all of these bands can be heard in Scarab's music. Perhaps the band's greatest attribute, though, is the songwriting. "We put a lot of time in developing the album's concept, and I think the final result shows. The lyrics tell a good tale while sticking to the guts'n'gore we all love," elaborates the Grave Robber. "We are gods," adds the Bastard Child. The band fully believes they have the potential to go a long way with their music and attitude. "One intent listen will make you a believer," states the Grave Robber.

"What's wrong with you?" the man asked.

"There's nothing wrong with me," responded the Bastard Child. "I'm a goddamn rock star."
