BOOT'S -POOR
Poor Folks
- Your home is a piece of cardboard tucked into brush
- no roof over your head or even a toilet to flush
- Food is scarce and what there is there's not enough
- working for a labor pool pays little and the work is rough

- Thirty dollars a day for twelve hours of digging a ditch
- cold and hungry can make the day a real bitch
- Tired and sore you fght off people who want your pay
- and try to find a safe place that you can go and stay
- Your eyes are bleak and people look at you hard
- and in this game of life you hold no high card
- Drunks and druggies surround you as you try to survive
- and a constant virgil must be kept to remain alive
- Most people don't see this side of life in a day
- as they are secure and out of harms way
- Nights are spent behind locked doors and warm beds
- and they never see where poor people lay down their heads
- One day perhaps they will get a break and move up
- till then please spare them just a drop in the cup
- In time maybe people will realize how life can be
- and not look away when it's you they see...
