I Ride Alone Now
The trail together was a good one for both of us I think
we laughed and lived a life that never seemed to sink
Your pain was always there but you put it aside for me
but I could see it in your eyes and wished you could be free

We made a vow we would take care of each other forever
so when the cancer struck I left my job to be together
I kept you home away from the hospitals that were so cold
where everything you would get would be bought and sold

You were home where you belonged, warmed by my love
careing for you was a strain and times I had to look above
It's hard to see the one you love melt away to the shadows
but you were without pain and finally had no more battles

I'll miss you my love, you were my friend and my wife
no longer will you have to fight the pain and strife
My tears drip over your grave but you must go ahigh
and for now I must continue on and say my last goodbye.
