YOUR ARTICLE CONCERNING A BOYCOTT IS BEING ACTED ON. AS A UNION MEMBER ON THE OUTSIDE I RECOGNIZE THE THREAT OF PRISON LABOR TO UNION LABOR. I AGREE THAT THE BEST WAY TO PREVENT THAT THREAT FROM ACTUALIZING IS TO EMBRACE PRISONERS RIGHT TO ORGANIZE.  LAST I CHECKED THIS IS NOT COMMUNIST CHINA. MY ADDRESS IS P.O.BOX  36311. K.C.MO. Thanks, Mike. I distributed the page https://www.angelfire.com/sc2/mpluon to a local Ottawa list and among postal worker activists acrosss the country. I can't believe this wouldn't be posted. What's the problem - seems pretty straight forward to me? Good luck with the organizing.
Hi there, I work with the American Friends Service Committee's Criminal Justice Project in Philadelphia... read your recent press release on the Missouri Prisoners Labor Union Boycott. What a wonderful organization and campaign you haveI don't have the info on the Colgate matter, and I was asked about the story behind it. Please send me the information.
I agree with you on direct action. I am trying to ferret out what products are being made with prison labor. I know there is a plan to significantly increase factories at the prisons.
Hi Convict 78.
I am pleased to received an email (forwarded, I guess) from a Mike Lee regarding the call to "not purchase" any Colgate/Palmolive products. It has always been my impression that slavery is against the civil rights of citizens - and therefore, unlawful. I was unaware that prisoners were being used as slave labor until a short expose on TV how prisoners in many prisons are being so used.Ê This was aired along with the execution of Shaka Sankofa in TexasÊ - an act of murder by the authorities...also against a persons civil rights. I shall be happy to forward this email to all on my list - and will support the request of your union. I wish you well in your negotiations for a fair wage.

Dear Michael, I'm very interested in your campaign against Colgate Palmolive. While the press release didn't go into a lot of detail about your relationship to the company, I'm assuming that prisoners have to buy their toothpaste and other products through the commissary. I don't know if you have any more documents, but I'd like to learn more. My organization, Prison Moratorium Project, is currently helping to lead a national campaign against Sodexho Marriott Services (the largest caterer in North America) because of its parent company's investments in for-profit private prisons. We're interested in eventually taking on other corporate profiteers, and would like to know more about your effort, what successes you've had, etc.

Thanks for your time, and good luck with your work.

Fraternalmente
