Soundless Desire

by Shelby ©

If you look into my wistful eyes,
Visible becomes the mirror to my soul.
You will see the relentless ache,
For a man I could not hold.

To him I pledged my heart,
And received nothing in return.
Just another of life's lessons,
Realism is bittersweet learned.

I can see there no room for me,
The love he had for me has died.
Leaving me empty and wasted,
So what good is all my pride.

Even if I love him still,
To another arms I now turn,
Soundless within my essences,
Desire for him silently burns.

His constant remembrance,
Never dismissed from my mind.
Imprisoned by his memory,
Tangled foolish faults lay intertwined.

I haven't any real purpose for being,
As thoughts become separated into pieces.
Continually recurring without interruption,
Lord, when will this anguish ever cease.
