A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT of BIASC:

Many thanks to those who have contributed to out efforts to build a strong organization and enable us to make a difference in people's lives. This effort to develop a statewide organization began in 1997 with BIA, Inc. and the S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs' Head and Spinal Cord Injury Division being major supporters. These are truly exciting times as we experience tremendous growth and expand out capabilities.

Looking back over the past couple of years we have received significant grants, hired 2 full time staff members, become a chartered affiliate with BIA, Inc., and received a 501(c) 3 non-profit IRS status just to mention a few accomplishments. All this is geared to enable us to better accomplish our mission to "create a better future..."

Some of our short-term goals are to increase our Support Groups to 20 locations across the state, increase membership to 5,000, and a yearly budget (for services to the brain injury community) of $1,000,000 plus. For these three goals to occur we will have fun and rewarding tasks for the BIASC members which will include fundraisers which increase awareness, injury prevention programs & grants, and advocate for legislation to support the mission.

Long term goals being considered include "summer camps" and BIASC ownership of a "recreation center". If we are attentive with our short-term goals these two goals will come soon.

We know here are many issues to address and that there is no single bullet solution. What we do must make a difference in people lives; we must never loose sight of our mission. To be successful we must be strong; we must have goals to make us successful.....and we're gonna have fun doing it.
