What is Star Control?
Star Control is a series of three video games, each video game is slightly different than the other. Star Control 1 is a strategy game that involves colonization and inter-planatary war between two warring factions known as the Alliance and the Hierarchy. First read the storyline leading up to Star Control 1.
After the completion of the first war the Hierarchy was victorious. However in Star Control 2 you control a young space captain who is eager to rebuild the alliance. Star Control 2 takes a turn from the original, in that you now directly communicate with the Alliance, Hierarchy, and other neutral alien races. Star Control 2 is the ultimate test of diplomacy and should be played by every video-gamer at least once. This game is by far my favorite computer game. No game compares. Introduction to Star Control 2
Ok, next you're probably thinking, Star Control 3 right? Wrong. Star Control 3, though a fine game independently, is not the vision of the future that Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III had intended (due to the fact that they lost the rights to Star Control shortly after Star Control 2 came out). Thus it is not truly Star Control 3. However, with the eventual downfall of Accolade, the Star Control rights may be up in the air for a company to take. Currently Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III are working for Crystal Dynamics (They did Soul Reaver) and have stated that if given the chance to do another Star Control, the title would be Star Control 3.
