Every human being needs a positive emotional support system.

5. Someone who is willing to work things out even when you disagree because they never give up on you.

6. Someone who invests as much as you do to keep your relationship mutual and strong.

7. Someone who will pray for you without judging you.

8. Someone who sticks with you when your behavior is less than perfect or when you goof up in some way.

9. Someone who challenges you to grow like a mentor might.

10. Someone who will challenge your negative emotional reactions, and will encourage you to be more positive about everything.

11. Someone who builds you up without trying to tear you down in any way.

12. Someone who views the world as you do, having the same values and ethics.

13. Someone who both gives and takes equally within your relationship so that neither of you are burdened by the other in any way.

14. Someone who understands what you are going through.

15. Someone you can trust who will not betray any confidences.

16. Someone who believes in your capabilities and encourages you to be the best you can be without nagging you.

17. Someone who will teach you how to take care of yourself in life so that you do not have to depend on others to take care of you.

18. Someone who sets an example by the life they live, not just what they say.

19. Someone who is not abusive or invalidating in any way, which not only includes physically, but emotionally, psychologically, intellectually, socially, and spiritually.
