E. CHARLSIE VORWERK

In Memory of E. Charlsie Vorwerk and Norman T. Vorwerk

Mrs. Vorwerk received her A.B. Degree in Creative Art from Georgia College at Milledgeville, Georgia, and has had two years of commercial art study. She worked professionally as a billboard design artist, fashion illustrator, cartographic draftsman and as a free-lance commercial artist. Currently she does paintings in all media, some commercial art, and has taught private group art classes in oils, acrylics, water color, pastels and basic drawing techniques. She also has taught beginning drawing and watercolor at the Charleston Southern University Continuing Education Program. She is a member of the Charleston Artist Guild, The League of Charleston Artists, the Summerville Artist's Guild and the Italian Art Academy. In 1980 Mrs. Vorwerk was nominated for her artistic achievement as a "Academic of Italy" with a gold medal to the "Italian Academy of Art"; received the Golden Centaur Award (1982); in 1983 the "Academy of Nations" by the Center of Study and Research of Nations, Italy, and was awarded the Statue of Victory; and in 1985 "The Oscar or Gold" by the Italian Art Academy. Mrs. Vorwerk was the Art & Craft Exhibit Chairman for The Flowertown Festival, in Summerville, SC, from 1973-1998. She was also co-coordinator of The Washington Park Piccolo Spoleto Art Festival, in Charleston, SC, from 1983-1998. Mrs. Vorwerk is listed in "Who's Who in America 1997", "Who's Who in American Art", "Who’s Who in the World", "Who’s Who in American Women", "Who’s Who in the South and Southwest", "Who's Who in the Arts", "Noted Personalities of the South", "The International Biography", "The World Who's Who of Women", "The Book of Honors (1983)", and "Foremost Women in the 20th Century" (1985). She received Honorable Selectionne (1972) and Grand Finalist (1973) in the Grand Prix International de Deauville, France, and her painting was selected two years for their traveling exhibition throughout Europe, North America, and Asia. She received a diploma of Honor in the Gran Premia "I Sette Colli di Roma," (1974). Mrs. Vorwerk's work was reviewed in 1971, 1973 and 1974 in "La Revue Moderne", Paris, France, and in "II Giornale D'italia" and "II Tempo", Rome, Italy. Mrs. Vorwerk's paintings are in private collections throughout the United States, Canada and several European Countries. She has also illustrated several books.Mrs. Vorwerk's artwork is in collections all over the world.
