"Teach a child to choose the right path,
and when he is older he will remain upon it."
Proverbs 22:6

Welcome to my place in cyberspace. I have developed it and maintain it primarily to provide information for and about my math students at North Augusta (SC) High School.
It is amazing to realize that already another summer break has come and gone! Teachers report for workdays on August 8; students return on August 14th.
I usually try to see how many fun books I can read over the summer, but this summer I must have been trying to see how many miles I could travel! I spent a week at the beach with family, worked with Habitat for Humanity in Poland, celebrated my wedding anniversary in Charleston, traveled to visit family in Pennsylvania, worked on rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina in Biloxi, then took daughter to New York City to, among other things, attend a production of Wicked on Broadway. I think I'm ready to unpack my suitcase and go back to school!

Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.

I'm reading another in a series by Carole Nelson Douglas about Irene Adler, the only woman to best Sherlock Holmes! This one is entitled Spider Dance and is set in New York City in 1889.

Would you like to see pictures of my grandchild Mary Page?

Remember to PRAY for the victims and survivors of 9/11, the tsunami, for the people of Israel and Lebanon, for the folks in the paths of Katrina and Rita, for our nation, its leaders, our soldiers and their families, for people of Iraq and Afghanistan and many other faraway places with strange-sounding names, for Christians and other humanitarian workers all over the world who get caught in the crossfire.

"When will I EVER use math in life/future/job?"
Check out this website for some answers to that question I so often hear in class!

OK, so maybe our bowling trip did not turn out as we had hoped, we Carolina fans still bleed garnet. My favorite Gamecock continues to be Cocky! Check out cute pix of him here!

I teach an adult Sunday School class at my church, Advent Lutheran Church on Washington Road in Augusta. If you are not already involved in Bible study elsewhere, I'd like to invite you to our adult class which meets at 9:45 every Sunday morning. Our current unit of study is entitled, "Called to be a Christian Community," with scripture taken from 1 and 2 Corinthians.

"We shall be true and everlasting and really divine persons only in Heaven, just as we are, even now, coloured bodies only in the light." - C. S. Lewis
