KHAPRE VISHAL DILIP is presently Ex-Student of four year undergraduate course leading to Bachelor’s Degree in METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING.

The Government College of Engineering, Pune (C.O.E.P.), located at confluence of the rivers Mula and Mutha, is a State Government institution affiliated to University of Pune. Being established in 1854 by the British, this college is one of the oldest and pioneering engineering educational institution in Asia. The C.O.E.P. is situated in the city of Pune which is famous for its rich heritage and educational culture commonly referred as "Oxford of the East" and one of the most distinguished seats of education in India. For last 144 years the C.O.E.P. has an untainted reputation of producing worldclass engineers like Sir M.Visvesvaraya. The college is ranked amongst top five engineering institutes of the country and has an outstanding repute in academic as well as in industrial circles for its quality of education and industrial interactions. An indication of this is that it has been chosen from all over Asia for Japanese Government Grant worth $6 million for latest scientific and engineering instruments.

 

Needless to say, the Government College of Engineering, Pune is highest ranked amongst all 21 engineering colleges affiliated to University of Pune. Admissions to the undergraduate courses are based on the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Higher Secondary School Examination. The competition is so keen that the admission to C.O.E.P. is restricted to only top 0.2% aspirants. The C.O.E.P. offers both Bachelor’s and Master’s courses in Mechanical, Civil, Metallurgy, Electrical and Electronics & Tele-communications Engineering and Bachelor’s course in Computer Science, Production and Instrumentation Engineering. The Bachelor’s Degree is a four-year program.

Each academic year consists of two semesters with an examination at the end of each semester conducted by University of Pune that is common to all affiliated colleges.

GRADING SYSTEM:-

The University of Pune follows a quantitative grading system to evaluate the performance of students. The overall percentage of marks obtained by student is graded as follows,

Minimum percentage of marks required for passing is 40% in Theory Papers, Oral Examinations, Practical Examinations and Term Work.

DEPARTMENT OF METALLURGY

Touted as the most coveted department, The Department of Metallurgy is one of the best of its kind in the country. It is the only Metallurgical Engineering Department in the entire Maharashtra State run by State Government of Maharashtra. Amongst the thousands of students applying for the Bachelor’s course in Metallurgy only sixty stand a chance of being admitted to the Department.

The industrial needs for the program blending Material Science with Mechanical Engineering aspects is truly satisfied by the course offered by the Department. Apart from this the Department has been providing various services like consultancy, research and development, material testing, etc. to the industry. To meet these needs the Department is having number of laboratories well equipped with latest scientific instruments. The pride of the Department lies in the learned staff-members and expert visiting faculty.
