THE ROGUE/TIGRA CONNECTION!
By Rob Allstetter
What do Rogue and Tigra have in common?
Wouldja believe Lenore Zann?
Zann, who played Rogue in all of the episodes of the X-MEN animated
series, is now voicing Tigra, the fur-covered, cat-like hero, for
THE AVENGERS animated series, which is set to begin next season
on Fox Kids.
Voice recording recently began in Toronto on the first of 13 episodes
of THE AVENGERS from Saban Entertainment.
Zann's voice will probably the most recognizable among the cast.
She has a certain scratchy aspect that she calls "that million-dollar
crack." Zann has appeared in several Canadian live-action films,
as well as guest spots on such TV series as Millennium, Robocop
and Forever Knight.
Tony Pastor, who has worked on such Marvel series as SPIDER-MAN,
FANTASTIC FOUR, IRON MAN and SILVER SURFER, is the voice director
of THE AVENGERS.
While most of his Marvel work has been done in California, Pastor
went to Toronto to record SILVER SURFER and has been impressed with
the Canadian performers.
"There's such a wealth of talent in that area," Pastor says.
Other primary voices in the first episode of THE AVENGERS include
Rod Wilson as Ant-Man, the leader of the team; Tony Daniels as Hawkeye;
Hamish McEwan as Wonder Man; Martin Roche as Falcon; Lynda Ballentine
as Wasp; Stavroula Logothettis as Scarlet Witch; Ron Robin as Vision;
Graham Harley as Jarvis; and John Stocker as Ultron.
Wilson was the voice of Hardcase on ULTRAFORCE and the voice of
Longshot on X-MEN.
Other voices in the first episode of THE AVENGERS include Ray Landry
as Raymond Sikorsky, Carolyn Larson as a female computer and Tate
Roswell as Andrew.
THE AVENGERS is being produced by Ron Myrick, who worked on UPN's
THE INCREDIBLE HULK series. Eric and Julia Lewald, who developed
X-MEN for Fox, are story editors.
