- angelfire THE SERVER! Hey check it out and get your own FREE web page!
- calvin and hobbes My favorite part of the day used be in the morning before going to work. I would drink a pot of coffee and read the three pages of comics in the Washington Post. My favorites were Bloom County, then Calvin and Hobbes. Now that they're both gone the comics aren't the same. My favorite Calvin and Hobbes is when they decide to play "war". They both hit each other with these suction cup darts; they're standing there with the darts stuck to foreheads, and Calvin (or it could been Hobbes) says "Kind of a stupid game."
- cartoon network Perhaps to fill my comic need I find myself watching the cartoon network here in Germany, or maybe it's because it one out of my English channels. I'm particularly found ofDexter's Laboratory. Although Dexter is billed the boy genius I think his sister Dee-Dee who is always destroying his experiments is the smarter of the two. (Yep I'm actually discussing the intelligence of cartoon characters, and I used make fun of Beavis and Butthead fans who discussed which of those two were smarter..hi Randy!). Other cartoons that deserve a mention are "Two stupid dogs", "Cow and Chicken", which is just plain weird, "Batman", which sometimes doesn't seem like a cartoon at all, and "The Mask".
- Cosmo magazine Yes I admit I read it. Not only this but all those fashion magazines, both American and British editions, due to the fact that the train station shop sells both here, and pay like 13-18 marks each (about 7-10 dollars). Its total brain candy. This site is great cause you can do the cosmo quizes online, and it will calculate "How manipulative are you?" or "Are you a sex kitten?". No math in your head necessary. I get enough math analyzing data; I don't need it from Cosmo. Occasionally I will read like a book, but I have a problems with books...once I start I have to finish the book like THE SAME DAY!!! I once read Stephen King's "It" in a day and half during final exams at college. So you can see why a book would be a bit more distracting than Cosmo. Some of my favorite authors right now are Anne Rice, John Irving , John Updike, Sidney Sheldon, John Grisham and Kurt Vonnegut Jr . I have discovered the American section of the general library here at the University of Konstanz is pretty good. It has Toni Morrison in German and English and a book by Helen Keller, so I broke down and got a library card. But right now I usually hang out at the Natural Science library looking through the "Nature" and "Science" classified ads for my next job.

CNN international The second of my four English channels. Ryan says living in Germany has decreased music knowledge, but increased my world news knowledge. The other two English channels I get are CNBC (business news-how boring can you get!) and Sky News a British news channel.

A Nerd test I only qualified as a "Nerd in training" I don't know if that's good or bad. Why don't you take it and let's compare scores. Beware, it takes about an hour. It has 500 questions.

Song lyrics-R-us I'm like a song lyric nut. I love them. I was thinking about putting together a "my favorite song lyrics link", but that's a whole mini project. Its just not the lyrics of course, but what they remind me of...good times and bad, and recollecting all my favorites would be really a long trip now memory lane. Plus right now I'd be inclined to quote the whole Matchbox 20 CD. A group I really like right now. I put their CD in the CD-ROM drive of the computer and listen to it over and over again while analyzing data or working on this page, which is why there are few Matchbox 20 quotes floating around. Eventually I'll put it together. In the meantime why don't you send me your favorite lyrics and I can put them on the page too.

Snopes The site that debunks or confirms Urban legends of all kinds. Find out if you really get a 4.0 if your roommate dies, or if Bill Gates really sent an email offering people a thousand dollars, or...

Titanic, the movie I really liked this movie. I guess along with the rest of the world. Before Titanic my favorite romantic film was Romeo and Juliet (the 1968 version). My all time favorite movie I guess would be E.T., although I love a lot of movies for different reasons. When my brother and I were kids, and these old movies would come on T.V., my dad would say "This is my all time favorite movie!" For EVERY movie! But now I can see me doing that to my kids. Speaking of old movies, at 10 p.m. the cartoon network turns into TNT classic movies, so I get to watch all my Dad's old favorites myself, and he was right a lot of them are good.

Quizland This is good for those short incubation times or completely wasting time.
My best ranking is 14th, I think and I scored 63% better than the rest of the people, AND I got a perfect score on the third round. This is has only happened like 3 times out of playing it about 100...soooo.
Links that aren't exactly a complete waste of time...
- Language translator This is great if I want say I'm a dork auf Deutsch...Ich bin ein Dork.
- Webmuseum A virtual visit to the Louvre. A site to get inspiration or give up painting anything all together. My two all time favorite artists are Van Gogh and Gaughin, but am really getting an appreciation for so many others ("others" to be a link someday).
- The Washington Post Okay so I really use this site to find out what the weather is around Baltimore, but I have read an article or two ("article" to be a link someday).
Other Home Pages I like...
- Ed's page This is my brother's home page. Right now he has pictures of the engagement ring he gave to Orit. It's a huge rock!
- Shumeet's page If you think all that Hal computer stuff in 2001 is just fantasy you are sadly mistaken. Shumeet is the Artifical Intelligence King. He's training computers via genetic algorithims to think and learn. Check out his "Face detection project". It's amazing!
- Eve's page I came across her page through the lyrics page above. She was "Ms lyric" for April. Eve is a engineering student at Caltech with a Pi fetish, but don't that stop ya from checking it out. This page is amazing! (If you like Pi too check out her Pi quiz.) I hope one day my page is half as good. (There is even an Eve homepage fan club!) Despite her love for Pi and cows I think Eve seems like a pretty cool person who makes all fun, strong, smart women proud.
The Geek Links: Schools I've attended
- University of Maryland, Graduate School ...got that Ph.D. thingy here
- University of Virginia...got a B.A. in Biology here
- Radford University...went into geek overload here; I studied so much they forced me to leave...sniff
- South Lakes High School Class of 1986!
- Terraset Elementary "The hill with the school inside". This school in Reston, Virginia is partly underground and famous. When we were living in North Carolina (with no immediate plans to move to Virginia) my mom showed my brother and I an newspaper article about this unique school. She said "Wouldn't it be fun to go to a school like that?" Two years later we were going to school there.
