A Story of a three star general who is sent to miliary prison because he did'nt obey a direct order from the president. He and his troops were taken prisoner and they were torchered. Many of his men died due to disobeying this order. Now for the story line. Once in prison this General played by Robert Redford makes enemys quikly with the Warden. The general finds out about many murders and brutal assults on the military prisoners in the camp. Then it seems like this general starts making a batallon of soldiers out of this group of miliary prisoners. They start calling each other new names for their ranks, Chief is General, Pal is Private, etc. Then they take over the Prison. I'm not quite sure why, I think it's to get rid of the Warden.
My overall impression of this movie is that it's very long very boring and actually pretty stupid. I think the General was trying to show that the men are still soldiers and they should not be treated as they were. But why whould you risk killing your men or the prison guards lives if you going to make a point. I think they were just showing how these soldiers are violent criminals. If you going to make a impression would you distroy property or make people see the truth. The truth is hard to see when you have burning buildings and dead men lying on the ground. It's one of this throw back movies that if you break the law once it's ok, it just may not be your fault.
