was first thought of in 1971 after acquiring Rexy, an almost sheltie. His mother was a registered Shetland Sheepdog but nobody was too sure about dad. Later in 1985, after Rexy's death, the idea took form with the purchase of MounteJoy's Rastis [cdx].The original plan was to use Sunsetdawn's Shasta Daisy CD
as the foundation bitch, but Shasy grew to over 16 inches and had an unsatisfactory ear set so she was spayed and beacame the family pet..
Ch.Evermeer Sanvilar's Pego My Hart took over the job of foundation bitch. In all Sanvilar produced 14 puppies, 13 of which were by the Rastis/Peggy combination and one was from a breeding of Evermeer's Sam's Legacy (cdx) and Peggy. Rastis did produce several litters with other Evermeer bitches. Evermeer Shelties (ckc perm reg.)formerly of Smithville wad owned by John and Nancy Meyer and has many conformation and obedience shelties to its credit.Unfortunately for the sheltie world they too have retired.I am glad to report at ALL the puppies are in loving homes.
Rastis went to the Rainbow Bridge March 15th, 2001. Shasta followed on April 24th, 2001, 7 weeks before her 16th birthday. Peggy escaped in 1994 during a move and by the time I found her, some years later, she had adopted a new family and she remains with them.
A good friend, and fellow sheltie breeder, once said there are only two kinds of dogs... those that are shelties, and those that wish they were shelties. Rastis[left] & Shasta [right] shared their home with a dob/shepherd, Khan for 7 years.
