The Tattoo took place on Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14th February 1999. So we recognised the actual anniversary of the event.
Line Up
The line up is Ringwood Pipe Band, Hampshire Fire & Rescue Pipe Band, Surrey Pipe Band, Rose & Thistle (Gosport) Pipe Band and some representatives of the now defunct RBL Melksham Pipe Band. These bands represent 4 counties (Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire & Surrey) and perform as a massed band under the direction of Senior D/M Joe MacDonald and Sen. P/M Robert Pearson. Stop Press 3 Breton Pipers are coming across the channel to join our Tattoo. Premier Highland Dancers from the Orchard School of Highland Dancing, Scottish Country Dancers from Salisbury & Bournemouth Caledonian Society, the Choir of South Wilts Grammar School for Girls, Salisbury and the super Band of the Hampshire Constabulary (Musical Director Len Lewry) complete the known musical content (Although I have a couple of new surprises that I am keeping under wraps).
The parts of MacIain of Glencoe, Robert Campbell of Glenlyon and Sir Robert Dalrymple (Master of Stair) are taken by Ray Virr, Richard Henderson & Kevin Knight - all local thesbians.
A solo singing of the Ballad of Glencoe will be sung by John Scott.
