Me as a golfer...

From behind 18th green - Barsebäck Old Course

I've played golf since the early 80's at Barsebäck Golf & Country Club. It is one of the best, if not even the best, courses in Sweden. Reoccuring host of Scandinavian Masters and the Old Course has been voted 27th best course in Europe and is in the "100-club" of the best 100 courses in the world. Situated beside the Sound, it ranges between genuine sea-side holes, park landscape and mighty pine forests. The 17th hole on the New Course is according to 1997 years survey the best golf hole in Sweden, and also the 12 of the Old Course is among the top 18 holes in Sweden. It is a privilege to play such a course, but unfortunately you become quite spoiled... *grin*

I was ten years old when I started to play, so I've got a swing that started out on kids clubs, grew through ladies' clubs and up to mens'. I also played a period with only half a set, and this I can recommend. People playing full sets all their life never learn to work with too much or too little club in the same way. I managed to get down to single handicap around 1990 and got as low as 7. After that I felt I did not want to spend my life practicing, so I've slowly managed to get up to a more managable handicap of 11.8. Today I use Wilson Staff Firestick irons, sometimes a geniune persimmon-wood driver from Spalding otherwise Yamaha Carbonfiber or Black Plasma driver & woods, Callaway hickorystick wedges and a Wilson putter with a balata-rubber insert. Sometimes this superb equipment can get me close to, or below, my current handicap.
