The OFTT League is a 12-team league made up of members that met on the message boards at thehuddle.com. The 12 teams are split into 3 divisions -- East, Central, and West. The schedule is made up of each team playing all divisional foes twice and all others once, for a total of 14 regular season games. There will be 2 weeks of playoffs.
This is a RE-DRAFT league.
Rule Amendment - 05/20/02: Each team will submit an entry fee of $25.
Any proposed rule changes will be put to a league vote. A two-thirds majority vote (8 of 12 owners) is needed to pass a new rule or an amendment. Rule amendments will be posted in the rules in white text with the date it was added. |
| DRAFT DAY |
|---|
| The 2010 draft is scheduled for Monday, August 30th. This year it will be a live draft that takes place on the MFL website. The draft order has been determined by a random dice roll using an online dice server. The order for the 2010 Draft is: | |
|
|
| The draft will last 16 rounds and will proceed in a serpentine fashion. In live draft mode, each team will have three minutes to make its selection. If all rounds haven't been completed in the live session before any owners need to depart, the draft will then continue in the non-live mode. In the non-live draft mode, owners will have approximately 12 hours to make a selection (subject to change). Pre-selection of picks is encouraged if an owner will be offline for an extended period of time. Team owners will select players from the following categories: Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Wide Receivers (includes Tight Ends), Kickers, and Team Defenses. When a defense is taken, you also get that teams' special teams. |
| SCORING |
|---|
| Rule Amendment - 7/16/10: OFTT now uses decimal scoring for passing, rushing, and receiving yardage. | ||
|---|---|---|
| ALL PLAYERS | DEFENSE | KICKERS |
|
TD run or catch = 6 pts TD pass = 4 pts Interception thrown = -1 pt Every 1 yard rushing + receiving = 0.1 pt Every 1 yard passing = .033 pt (.034 pt every 3rd yard) Every 10 rush attempts = 1 pt Every 10 pass completions = 1 pt Every 3 receptions = 1 pt All 2-pt conversions = 2 pts |
Touchdown = 6 pts Safety = 2 pts Interception = 2 pts Fumble Recovery = 2 pts Sack = 1 pt
Points Allowed: |
Field Goals: 18 - 39 yds = 3 pts 40 - 49 yds = 4 pts 50 - 59 yds = 5 pts 60+ yds = 6 pts PAT = 1 pt |
| MISCELLANEOUS | ||
| Rule Amendment - 07/05/00: Only points actually given up by a defense will be counted under the 'Points Allowed' rule. Ex. If you have the St. Louis Rams defense, and Rams QB Sam Bradford throws an interception for a touchdown, the points won't count against the Rams defense.
Scores by special teams (punt & kickoff return TDs) will count ONLY for the special teams and NOT for the individual that scores. |
||
| ROSTERS & LINEUPS |
|---|
| A team roster will consist of 16 spots. The basic breakdown is 2 QBs, 5 RBs, 5 WRs, 2 Ks, and 2 DTs. You may, however, create your roster anyway you wish, but you must be able to field a legal lineup in accordance with any of the lineup formations listed below. Note: a TE is NOT required. You may draft TEs and use them in your lineup, but they will be considered as WRs.
OFTT will use multiple lineup formations. You can choose from:
Lineup Submission: Players in Thursday and Saturday games are locked at kickoff of their game, other players are locked at the first game Sunday.
**If no lineup is turned in by the deadline, the previous week's lineup will be used.** Rule Amendment - 07/30/09: With the league now being a re-draft league, there is no reason to have an IR slot for a potential keeper the following season. Therefore, the IR rule is eliminated. |
| PLAYOFFS |
|---|
| Four teams will make the playoffs -- the three division winners and the team with the next best record (wild card). The division winners will be seeded #'s 1-3 according to record, with the wild card team always being the #4 seed. They will play in the semi-finals in Week 15 with #1 playing #4 and #2 playing #3. In Week 16, the two winners will play for the championship.
Rule Amendment - 09/20/07: The 3rd Place Game (between the losers of the semi-finals in Week 15) has been eliminated. The bottom four teams in the league (#'s 9-12 according to record) will play in a loser's bracket in Weeks 15 & 16, with #9 playing #12 and #10 playing #11. The two winners from Week 15 will play in Week 16 (The Toilet Bowl), and that winner will receive the #1 draft pick the following season. The loser in Week 16 will get the #2 pick next season. The remainder of the non-playoff teams will be ranked according to record for next year's draft, with draft positions being the reverse order of finish. The league champion will draft 12th, the runner-up will draft 11th, the 3rd place team will draft 10th, and the 4th place team will draft 9th. |
| TRADES |
|---|
| Owners may trade players through Week 10 of the season. Trades become official when all parties involved have received verification from the Commissioner's office.
Rule Amendment - 03/09/00: Roster sizes are now 16 slots. This will remain constant. If you make a trade where you receive more players than you traded, you must release whatever number of players it takes to keep your roster at 16. Conversely, if you receive less players than you traded, you must pick up free agents to return your roster to 16. **When a team is required to pick up an extra player due to an uneven multi-player trade, extra player pickups can be made immediately. Remember to maintain your roster with at least the minimum requirements at each position, as stated earlier. |
| WAIVER WIRE |
|---|
| Any player that is not drafted is a free agent and may be acquired via waivers. Rule Amendment - 03/09/00: The number of free agent transactions is now unlimited throughout the season. No more than three (3) transactions can be made per week. For each player obtained via waivers, a player must be released. These transactions are not negotiable. They may not be used in any trading.
The waiver wire will run on Wednesday night at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. Waiver requests must be submitted on the MFL website by 10 p.m. ET. or they will not get processed. Requests for players will be processed on a worst-to-first basis, i.e., the team with the poorest record will get first choice, and so on down to the team with the best record. In case of tie records, the team that has scored fewer points will be considered the lower team. Divisional records and head-to-head results will not be used in determining the waiver order. If you wish to acquire two or three players, you must wait for each team that requests players to get one before you can get your second, and requests for a second player will also be processed in a worst-to-first fashion. The same applies for a third request. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (before kickoff of the first game), free agent requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Any player on a current roster that's waived or released will not be available to be picked up until the following week. In the time between the completion of the draft and Week 1, if you wish to request a waiver transaction, waiver positions will be the reverse of the original draft order, i.e., 12th picks first, 11th picks second, etc. This order will be used on the Wednesday before Week 1. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of that week, free agents are first-come, first-served, just as in the regular season. After Week 1 begins, waiver position will be determined by record as outlined above. Waivers can be made each week throughout the season up through the day before our playoffs begin. Once the playoffs start, there will be no more waiver transactions for the remainder of the season. |
| TIE BREAKERS |
|---|
| There are no tie breakers for regular season games. The NFL has tie games, although they are rare because overtime, so we do, too (although our tie games are also rare because of decimal scoring, but it can happen). But since we have no OT, a tie is a tie.
If two or more teams are tied for a division title, the tie breakers are as follows: |
|
|
|
| If two teams are tied for the wild card, the tie breakers are as follows: | |
|
|
| If three or more teams are tied for the wild card, the tie breakers are as follows: | |
|
| PLAYOFF GAME TIE BREAKERS |
|---|
| In the event of tie in a playoff game, the winner will be decided by totalling the points of all the bench players of each team. The team with the higher scoring bench shall be declared the winner. |
| PRIZE FUND |
|---|
| Rule Amendment - 08/15/11: The league fee is raised to $30. The $30 league fee paid by each owner is used to make up the prize fund and to pay for the league website. The prizes are distributed as follows: | |||||||||
