I went into Rushmore thinking it would be a laugh fest and in a
way, it was. The plot is this...the worst student, Max, played by
Jason Scwartzman
falls in love with a 1st grade teacher at his school. With him being 15
there are the obvious problems. However, the big problem is when his older friend
Herman Blume played by Bill Murray
falls for the same teacher too. This begins their petty rivalry for her
affection. I found this movie to be quite clever. It drags at a few parts but
when it gets to the "war" as Max puts it, it gets to be quite humorous. The plot was okay
but the dialouge between the characters as well as their portrayal by the actors
are what made this a good movie. The only side note I have is this. Schwartzman
was a dead lock for this role. I could see no one else playing the part. However, I can
also not seem him cast in a another role since he fit this one so well. I would rate
this a definite must see at least once.
