This is my DG, my Don, a Brit who lives and teaches English in France. We found each other on the "teflfarmchat" mailing list, part of the TEFL Farm, which I discovered while searching the worldwide web for sites containing wordplay--malapropisms, crazy quotations, and other forms of linguistic fun. It started with a "good idea" email message and an ensuing case of mistaken identity (he thought I was his friend Sab, who owns the list, playing a prank), which led to explanatory emails and then more emails, followed by hours of laughter while chatting over Merlot and tommytoes. And so it continues...
The picture above was taken at Swensen's on South Market Street in Charleston, SC, in the final hours of the 1900's. We spent a lovely afternoon meandering through the streets, wandering through the shops, just enjoying being together. Following our afternoon in Charleston, we celebrated New Year's Eve at home, with much of it devoted to standing in the front yard, stargazing.
