What is the White Guard? We are the elite calvary unit who patrols the borders of Rokugan and the Shadowlands. Our mission in life is to lift the cursed taint of our ancestors by destroying all members of the Moto Clan who are Shadowlands (i.e. Moto Tsume, etc...). Our Daimyo of the Moto is Moto Soro. He is a White Guard Diamyo, you call tell by the color of his clothing...it is white. All white guard samurai wear the same color of clothing- all white with the purple trim. In battle our faces and will be painted white and our battle cries will make the strongest warrior retreat.In battle many a samurai or gaijin learn the true meaning of FEAR |
Philosophy of the Unicorn To understand our philosophy, one must realize that for over 700 years while all the other clans were able to build homes and develop an empire. The children of Ki-Rin were wandering to all corners of the earth. No place was home and we were treated as strangers everywhere we traveled. To maintain our ties to the land of our birth, it was important for everyone to know their genealogy. We all can trace our ancestry to Lady Shinjo herself. All of our traditions were kept, all ceremonies is regarded with importance and respect.
We have survived the travels of our ancestors and we shall trevail over all obstacles now. |
History of the Moto The original Moto was a gaijin whose distingushed service under Lady Shinjo allowed him to become a samurai of the Unicorn clan. Through marriage and many battles the Moto grew to become "the right hand of Shinjo", the shock cavalry that was used to break enemy lines during difficult battles. It seemed that the numerous victories of the Moto led to an air of invincibility, it seemed the Moto's fortunes and victories would endure forever. However this was not to be, the fall of the Moto happened when they were assisting the Crab in containing the horrors of Fu Leng in the Shadowlands. Being confident of victory, the Moto daimyo, Moto Tsume led his troops with force and bravado deep into the Shadowlands. Legend has it that the troops were wagering to the amount of heads they would collect when the Shadowlands creatures attacked. The loss to the Moto was decisive and high with the Moto daiymo becoming a member of Fu Leng's demons. Since this tragic day, we have become a grim and determined people, forever wanting to expunge the taint to our family name and honor. Our mon or family crest use to be a bright red chrysanthemum now it is the grim kabuki face to the right.
