Urusei Yatsura

Basically, Urusei Yatsura is the story of Ataru Moroboshi, the unluckiest and most lecherous high-school student in the universe, and his relationship with the alien princess, Lum, who falls for him. A little explaination of the title: The title is a Japanese pun that, when spoken out loud (in a "tough guy" or gangster dialect), simply means "noisy guys." However, the phonetic characters that normally spell the 'sei' in 'urusei' have been replaced with a Chinese character meaning "star." When used as a suffix, this character is also pronounced "sei" and is used to identify the names of planets (for example, put the Chinese characters for fire [hi] and star [hoshi] together, and you get a new word [and pronunciation] "ka-sei," meaning "Mars." Therefore "guys from planet Uru" is instead what a Japanese reader would see on paper.
