HURRICANE SEASON '98

The 1998 Hurricane Season was the deadliest hurricane season in over 200 years. The death toll from this season is over 12,000. Not since 1780, when 20,000 people were killed in a hurricane that hit Mexico, has a hurricane season been as devastating. There were 14 named storms and 10 of those became hurricanes. 7 storms made landfall, all of them hitting the US. Another monumental event during the 1998 season was the formation of 4 hurricanes in the Atlantic at one time.
