The Floating Head

To start with you need to build a chair frame. Build it out of 2x4's. The back legs of the chair are 60". The front legs are 30". The arms are cut to 27". I made my chair seat 24" square So on the seat two boards will be 24" and two will be 21". This will give you the 24" square for the seat, Then I cut 4 braces 12" and cut a 45 degree on each end And I put these in each corner of the seat. I got two pieces 24"x24" foam at the cloth store to put on the seat and back. Then I cut a piece of 1/4 plywood 24"x24" and put the foam on it then covered it with the material. The material should be something dark and striped this will help the illusion. Get something that you can line the pattern on the seat and the back. When I mounted my seat frame to the legs I overlapped the seat frame and the legs 1 1/2"on the inside of each of the legs. From the floor to the bottom of my seat frame is 15". The arms just sit on top of the front legs and level them at the rear legs. The back of the chair is a piece of 1/4" plywood that is 24" wide but about 8" long, I had cut mine 24x24 but was not enough room for my actor to get into the back of it. Put your foam and your material on to the back of the chair. I also had to cut each arm at the back legs in 1 1/2" to allow for the back of the chair. Now you will have to measure for your mirror and get it cut to size. The mirror sits in a 45 degree angle on the seat of the chair.
