In 1995 our team was founded as one of the first robotics teams in California through the collaboration of teachers at Woodside High School and engineers at RayChem. The small team of students, teachers, and engineers went on to an astonishing debut in the FIRST Robotics Competition by winning the National Championship title. By 1999, the team had grown to approximately 20 team members, and with the assistance of NASA and engineers from Lockheed Martin, went on to win the first Western Regional Robotics Competition, hosted by NASA Ames Research Center. Also that year, the team competed in the Sand Hill Challenge with the sponsorship of Meryll Lynch, winning first place in the high school Whimsical division in 2000 and first place in the high school Speed division in 2001. The team was also proud to win the AutoDesk People's Choice Award for Overall Excellence in 2001 at the FIRST Western Regional Competition at San Jose State University after having only participated in the animation competition for one year previously with an animation team consisting of only 3 people. Today, with over 30 active student members, the team is ready to take on the competitions of 2002 and beyond. |
