Mechanical/Electronics Division: This division is the one that actually designs, builds, and tests the robot during the Build Period. The Mechanical ("Mech" for short) people and the Electronics people work separately, but hand in hand as they coordinate with each other on the construction of the robot. The Mechanical people mainly focus on the drive train, structural supports, manipulators, and pneumatics, while the Electronics people focus more on programming, wiring, and motors. This division is by far the largest in the team. Website Division: This division is responsible for the development, maintenance, and updating of the team website, allowing students to have access to information on the robot during the Build period and potential corporate sponsors to learn more about the team. This division mainly pools from the Mechanical/Electronics and Animation divisions for the most accurate updates. Animation Division: This division competes in the AutoDesk competition, which is an award separate from the robot competition. The animation is a 30-second long, fully 3D computer generated short film on the robot and the team, displaying what the robot does and how it functions while portraying the values of the team that cannot be displayed through the actual robot competition. Though its members operate separately from the other divisions due to the nature of its work, it coordinates with the Mechanical/Electronics division to create an accurate depiction of the robot. Fundraising Division: This division is the reason why the team is able to compete at all in the first place. Pooling together the collective effort and support of the entire team, this division works to ensure enough funding for the team to allow it to participate in the competitions by raising money for the entrance fees and raising enough money to pay for all of the team's expenses. |
