The Woodside High School Robotics Team (#100) was founded to provide opportunities for high school students to explore the fields of engineering and technology with the collaboration of engineering and teacher advisors to build a competitive robot. It participates in the annual FIRST Robotics Competition (this is NOT Battle Bots!), traditionally in the Silicon Valley Regionals held at San Jose State Univerity in San Jose, California and the Championship Event in Orlando, Florida. Each year the competition format is changed and is revealed on the first weekend of January. From that point on, all the participating robotics teams have only six weeks to design, build, and test their robots before they must be shipped. Though the team is only allowed to work on the robot for six weeks in the months of January and February, the team remains hard at work throughout the year, fundraising, publicizing, training new members, and participating in other side competitions such as the Sand Hill Challenge and the WRRF California Robot Games. |
