MHC Molecules: The Tattle-talers
MHC molecules are located within body cells. They are called MHC molecules, since they are produced by a group of genes called the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC). They are also referred to as transport molecules.
Some types of transport molecules attach themselves to invading antigens and transport them to the plasma membrane. Class I MHC molecules bring the antigens to cytotoxic cells (killer T-cells)and Class II MHC molecules take the antigens to heler T-cells.
