Anatomy: Legs and Feet

A frog's legs and feet are specifically adapted for the environment they live in. Tree frogs have large adhesive disks on their toes allowing them to climb trees. The powerful hind feet of aquatic frogs are webbed enabling them to swim quickly and easily through water. Some frogs even have claw-like projections on their feet to help them burrow in mud.

Most frog's hind legs are built for jumping, which is a primary way of transportation for many frogs. The hind legs are enlarged with powerful muscles to propel the frog forward at great speeds. Many frogs can leap 20 times their body length.
