John Powell

• He was born 1836 in Begelly, Pembrokeshire, Wales and died between 1900 and 1910 in a mine accident near Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, USA. He is buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Hannah Parsell

• She was born May 31, 1837, baptized in St. Issell's Parish Church June 18, 1837, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Hannah died October 31, 1921 in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, USA and is buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
  

• Parents: George PARSELL and his wife, Sarah nee' PHILIPP, married Sept. 18, 1830 at St. Issell's Church, Saundersfoot. George died at age 30 on Oct. 13, 1836, in an accident, and is buried in the Old Yard at St. Issell's Church.

• Siblings: all remained in Wales.
  

  Brother - George PARSELL, baptized at St. Issell's Dec. 24, 1833, died in 1915. He married Sarah. One known son - George PARSELL, handicapped - worked as shoemaker.

  Sister - Charlotte Ann PARSELL - born Jan. 1, 1832. First husband with surname THOMAS. They had sons William and Jack; daughter Sarah GEORGE, Lottie who lived in Glasgow, and Beatrice, the youngest.

  Brother - Issac PARSELL- wife named Betsy.

  Brother - John PARSELL- baptized Dec. 27, 1835 at St. Issell's

Marriage of John Powell and Hannah Parsell - Ceremony at St. Issell's Parish Church, Saudersfoot, Pembrokeshire, Wales on May 24, 1860 by the Rev. James Dalton. Witnesses were Charlotte Parsell and James Powell.

• Children:
  

  William POWELL, born in St. Issell's June 24, 1861. He married Ellen GOTSHALL and they settled in Philadelphia. Their children were: Helen Irene POWELL, born September 12, 1893; John Albert POWELL, born March 25, 1895; Isabell Douglas POWELL, born January 19, 1897; and Wendell POWELL.

  Sarah POWELL, born in St. Issell's Dec. 7, 1865. She married Evan THOMAS, born 1860 in Anglesey, North Wales. They lived in Mount Carmel, PA and had three sons, John Ivor, Gordon, and Richard.

  Eva POWELL, born in St. Issell's Oct. 21, 1867. She married Richard HOWELLS. They settled in Scranton, PA.

  John Parsell POWELL, born in St. Isell's Aug. 20, 1868. He married Mamie M. EHLY, born 1876. He died in the same mine accident with his father, between 1900 and 1910 leaving two sons - James Leroy POWELL, born 1893 who married Catherine and settled in Erie, PA; and George P. POWELL, born 1896, married to Helen, they lived in Mount Carmel but settled in Deepwater, New Jersey.

  Lillian POWELL DAVIS, born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, USA May 30, 1872. She was single by 1922 and died in Philadelphia 1947 leaving one daughter, Mildred DAVIS.

  Thomas G. POWELL, born in Mount Carmel, PA June 12, 1875. He lived in Mount Carmel and was still single in 1922.

  Orville J. POWELL, born 1876 in Mount Carmel. His wife was Ella. They lived in Mount Carmel, PA where "Ollie", as he was known, served three terms as borough auditor, then two terms as a borough councilman. Then he was elected to the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives from Northumberland County's Second District, serving from 1924 to 1933. After the death of his parents "Ollie" purchased the family homestead at 25 N. Hickory St., Mount Carmel, PA. He also owned a grocery store at 214 W. Third St. in Mount Carmel.

  Gertrude POWELL, born 1879 in Mount Carmel. She married Thomas Edward Williams, born in Wales. They lived in Mount Carmel and had children: Charlotte Rubena (Ruby), born 1900 who married Alex RAMAGE; Lloyd, born 1907; Gertrude, born 1908; and Edward, born 1909.
